Am I even making sense? I can weld, I can spend hours on my knees in the garage tweaking stuff, and building, but I hate wiring! I am just not good at it. I guess a super simplified '79 or '80 diagram would work. I just want to see a simple, almost so basic It's obvious way to wire the bike barebones. It was running perfect with all the new parts but I decided to use new hand controls and this is where all my troubles began. Starter spins, headlight, tail all on, sounds like it wants to go, but no fire. My main issue with just simplifying the bikes wiring was, I kept getting no spark and I killed a battery with only like four attempts to turn the motor over. I wasnt sure what I did wrong so I started from scratch (checked all my connectors etc) last night, and I don't want to go thru taking all the time to run it all just to end up with a dead bike.
I looked up a Simone chopper diagram for a '77 and I ended up with dead ends and no fire. I am using a cycle electric gen with a built in voltage reg., starter/solenoid/relay, headlight, oil pressure light/oil pressure switch, taillight/running light, no indicators, coil, dyna ignition, single start button, and a kill switch. You will see here the electrical wiring diagram for the 1973-74 Harley Davidson FL-FLH. I’ve seen a few diagrams online but they are all a little different. There is no stock wiring so I’m gunna have to do it from scratch and I have no idea how.
